I admire my pregnant friend

Saturday, August 23, 2008

When I was pregnant last year, I remember how sickly and weak I was. After going through some very had morning sickness (all-day sickness, actually!) for half the pregnancy duration, I found myself rather immobile most of the time. By the time I was able to eat properly and not feel sick, I was already quite heavily pregnant. I didn't do any form of exercises although many people advised me to.

Now, a friend of mine is halfway through her pregnancy and she's one strong woman. She's actively going to the gym under the care of her personal trainer, taking the LRT and choosing to stand than to sit down, doing lots of walking (read as shopping!) and is also taking lots of vacations. Her next destination is to an island and she's been bugging me to go shopping with her to find a swimsuit.

I really admire her energy level and how determined she is to work out. All I did when I was at her stage was eat, watch tv and sleep!

Did you catch the finals?

Sunday, August 17, 2008

Today's men's single badminton finals is the talk of town. Everyone was rooting for our fellow Malaysian and it's nice to see great support like this. I know of many people who have made special arrangements to stay in or go to some place that has a large screen featuring the live match.

We decided to pack dinner and stay home to catch the match. Mom was so up for it that she even made some warm, sweet dessert so that we could enjoy it while watching the match. But both of us missed the entire match...I was putting my little boy to bed and by the time he went to bed, we were told it's all over. Including the victory ceremony!

Oh well, so much for a nice family sit-together with good dessert and a game to root for! How was your night, did you stay glued to the TV?

Technology does get cheaper

Do you remember how much you paid for your first mobile phone, computer, mp3 player, etc? I remember some of my purchases for these gadgets. You see, I'm a gadget lover and used to buy pen drives when they were costing RM1 for every 1MB. Nowadays, the price has come far from RM1 an MB. Not that I'm complaining, but when you look back, it looks like it's just not worth buying new technology. Just wait a couple of months or a year and you'll be able to buy them at better prices. Sames goes with micro sd cards. I first bought one for my phone and if I remember correctly, I paid about RM60 for it. Today, the same card albeit a different brand is priced as low as RM35!

Happy 080808!

Friday, August 08, 2008

I hope you're having a memorable 080808. It's just as well that it should fall on a Friday where it's everybody's favourite day, right? :)

Happy 080808 and enjoy the Olympics!

Cards are getting cheaper by the day

Last month I was checking out my favourite IT website and was eyeing this mini SD card that was selling quite cheaply. Since I don't need it urgently, I didn't buy it just yet. Then this month, I went to visit the site again and guess what? The price has gone down! I'm so glad I didn't buy it last month. I wonder if the price will keep coming down the longer I wait. It should be, seeing how the trend of IT gadgets are.

Don't ruin your eyesight due to laziness

In one of the companies that I used to work for, the CEO had some serious eyesight problem. She squints when she reads and she literally places the document right in front of her face to see clearly. What I heard from the others is that she ruined her eyesight because she doesn't remove her contact lenses for days on end. I've also heard of someone else who does the same. I wonder why people get so extremely lazy to remove and put on contact lenses on a daily basis. If it's such a hassle, then they should consider undergoing Lasik and be done with bad eyesight for life.

The price to looking good

A few days ago while I was in the lift in my office building I couldn't help but overhear a conversation between two rather young ladies. I would categorise them as pretty glamourous girls, the kind that would turn heads on the street and be the envy of many other ordinary girls. Their topic of conversation was how to maintain their already close to perfect figures. I was rather surprised to hear one of them telling the other that she's on some kind of diet pill that worked wonders for her while letting her binge on chips and fried foods. The other girl seems to be a bit more cautious about such slimming method and cautioned her friend to read carefully about diet pill warnings before consuming too much of them. I tend to agree that things like that should not be taken lightly. I hope that girl takes her friend's well-meaning advise to heart.
