Wake up call

Thursday, January 12, 2006

I've always wondered this:

How does a hearing impaired person wake up since he/she can't make use of an alarm clock?

I've been asking around and most times the first answer that comes along is to use the vibrate function on a mobile phone. But aren't we forgetting that there was a time when we didn't have mobile phones?

Anyone knows?

If you have been following the "Ig Nobel Prize" 2005 award (i.e. spoof nobel prize), you will come across an alarm clock that runs away and hides, repeatedly, thus ensuring that people DO get out of bed. Not sure how this helps the hearing impaired though ... ;->>

stargazer, thanks for the info. hmm, flashing lights huh. if i sleep like a dead log, dunno if it'll work on me. and yes i'm very grateful to be normal. :)

nick, it's quite a neat idea having people chase the alarm clock. haha. but me, i think i'll just trash it. :P

Think the hearing impaired person will have a more sensitive sight and thus more alert to flashing of light.

So, if they can, why not us ? We are normal but they are SPECIAL

yeah, God is fair. he never takes everything away from us. if one part is not so good, other things make up for it.

well i think a lot of people can wake up with flashing lights. me, different story!

The human mind is create in such a way that we can tell ourselves what time to wake up! Really! Just meditate on words lie "wake up at 7am... wake up at 7am... zzZzZzZ" and chances are, u'll wake up on time!

But I often don't trust myself, so I get someone to wake me as well. hehe
