All sorts of mooncakes

Thursday, September 01, 2005

In addition to my earlier mooncake blog, today I found some great samples of the diversity of mooncakes, as well as the pretty packaging! Just look at the green, white, pink and brown mooncakes! I don't enjoy sweet food but I sure enjoy looking at them. Look at the nice packing too. Makes very grand gifts don't they? Wonder if they're all in-house created or outsourced to some creative design houses.

The one stall that caught my eye was a stall by Picolo Mondo. That's right, the Italian restaurant is also joining in the crowd to sell mooncakes. Needless to say Picolo is selling Italian mooncakes. The sales person proudly explained to me that it's all made of cheese and they have choices of some Ricotta and Mascarpone mooncakes, with some selected flavours for each type. She offered me to try but I declined.

This morning on the radio I happened to catch some discussion about the newer types of mooncake flavours. One caller said she tried a sambal belacan mooncake and it was "not bad". Hmm...

Just the traditional mooncakes for me, thank you very much.
